2025 General Assembly Internship Program

The 2025 General Assembly Internship Program is more than just an opportunity for students to experience the legislative process. We believe we have a responsibility to mentor our interns, teaching them the skills they need to grow and providing opportunities for networking and career advancement.

Interns can expect to work on a range of exciting skills:

Policy

Interns will learn the intricacies of the state legislative process by researching topics and current events that affect Muslim communities, monitoring legislation in the General Assembly, and helping to translate complex policy issues into easily understood language.

Communications

The General Assembly moves at a rapid pace, so communicating what’s happening and how people can be involved is of the utmost importance! Interns will help spread the word about General Assembly news quickly and inform the community of any legislative wins we accrue!

Outreach

Outreach and grassroots organizing is all about building relationships and getting our communities engaged! Our outreach interns help manage our interfaith partnerships, coalition building, and Muslim community engagement.

Requirements Include:

  • Approximately ten hours of time commitment per week.

  • Familiarity with Office and Google Suite programs, and other relevant technical software.

  • Skills and traits necessary to manage tasks with minimal oversight, including time management and a detail-oriented, professional work ethic.

  • While much of the work can be done virtually, interns will meet in-person for 90 minutes a week. There is also an expectation that interns will attend the General Assembly session occasionally throughout their internship.
